Accountant

Accountant will be providing financial aspects of the project portfolios, implementing and monitoring of the financial aspects of assigned projects, managing financial risks and opportunities, and providing appraisal and analysis of the necessary financial aspects of proposals and reports for backdonors. The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the overall finance operations with a focus on budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, reporting and cash flow management.

Job Description

Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Record financial transactions and maintain general ledgers. Prepare and Update Cash flow statements
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing and timely payment collections.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Budget Support
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, providing support to finance managers.
  • Track and report budget variances.
Bank Reconciliations
  • Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
Expense Management
  • Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to organizational policies.
  • Assist in monitoring and controlling expenses.
Audit Support
  • Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
  • Prepare audit schedules and respond to audit queries.
Financial Systems
  • Utilize financial software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to improve and streamline financial processes.
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in accounting roles, preferably in a global or international context.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and financial systems.
Strategic Thinking
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to align financial strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Good analytical and conceptual thinking
    skills with proven proactive approach
Communication Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.
