Job Description
Responsibilities
Legal Strategy
- Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and objectives.
- Provide guidance on legal matters to support organizational goals.
Compliance
- Ensure organizational compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Conduct legal reviews and assessments to mitigate risks.
Contracts and Agreements
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of contracts and agreements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal clarity and compliance.
Dispute Resolution
- Lead dispute resolution processes and represent the organization in legal proceedings.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed.
Policy Development
- Develop and update organizational policies to reflect changes in laws and regulations.
- Communicate policy changes to internal teams and ensure understanding and compliance.
Intellectual Property
- Manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyrights.
- Ensure the protection of the organization’s intellectual assets.
Legal Research:
- Stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the organization.
- Provide proactive legal advice and updates to internal teams.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal practice, with a focus on nonprofit or corporate law.
- Proven experience in leading legal initiatives and managing legal teams.
Communication Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to convey legal concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Leadership and Team Management
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor legal teams.
