Job Description
Responsibilities
Financial Strategy
- Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with the organization’s mission, goals, and values.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team and board of directors, contributing to overall organizational strategy.
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Oversee the development and execution of financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Conduct regular financial analysis, providing insights to support informed decision-making and ensure financial health.
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ED; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
- Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
Risk Management
- Assess and manage financial risks, implementing effective strategies for risk mitigation.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial standards
Financial Reporting
- Assist in coordinating surveys, interviews, and other data collection methods as part of the M&E process.
- Uphold ethical standards and protocols during the planning and execution of data collection activities.
Audit and Compliance
- Oversee the annual financial audit process and ensure compliance with auditing standards.
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, with a track record of success in financial management.
- Experience in a global or international organization is an asset.

- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to align financial strategies with organizational objectives.
- Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with — programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
